During the European Maritime Day, tribute is paid to "Maritime Europe" and all maritime sectors and activities are put in the spotlight to help European citizens realise the real outreach and variety of sea-related activities taking place in Europe. In this context a series of public events will be organised in Malta on Sunday 19th and Monday 20th of May 2013. It is planned to organise a broad range of activities of different genre, including academic, popular, artistic, sportive, maritime and others. The aim is to show, promote, discuss and celebrate the value of long standing maritime tradition in our islands as well as various policies related to the seas.
Sunday 19th and Monday 20th May 2013 shall be full of exciting activities to be held around the Valletta Grand Harbour and a number of other areas in Malta. Explore Malta’s unique grand harbour, visit ships and boats, tour the Malta Maritime Musem, the Valletta Bastions built to defend the island from seaborne attacks, participate in activities, and make European Maritime Day in Malta a memorable one.
