The Maltese Ministry for Economy, Investments and Small Business and Ministry for Tourism, Culture and the Environment are issuing a general invitation to participate in these activities to be organised for the general ublic. Those Government entities, corporations, Local Governments, cooperatives, national organisations, companies, voluntary organisations and others that are, in any way, related to the maritime sector in its wide sense, are encouraged to participate by organising a public event that, directly or indirectly, is related to the sea. Organisers of such events will need to do so completely on their own steam but basic assistance (like coordinating the obtainment of any permits) may be provided by the Malta European Maritime Day 2013 Committee set-up to coordinate these activities.
Interested stakeholders are encouraged to submit applications for participating in the Public Events by sending a simple letter or email to the Malta EMD 2013 Organising Committee. The days for public events shall be a great opportunity to celebrate maritime importance and the richness of Malta’s maritime history and culture.
Applications for the organisation of a public event should include:
Details of the organiser/s (name, address, telephone, email)
Profile of the organiser/s
The activity/event proposed (the concept, title proposed, date/s, time/s and location)
Details as to how the event is linked to the importance of the sea in our daily lives
Information as how the event will outreach to the general public
Details as to whether fees will be charged for the public to participate (albeit it is preferred that participation is free of charge)
Deadline – 31/01/2013
Applications to organise a public event for possible inclusion in the European Maritime Day 2013 programme of activities in Malta should be submitted by the 31st January 2013 to:

Proposed public events will be subjected to a qualitative assessment by the Malta European Maritime Day 2013 Organising Committee. This assessment will, amongst other factors, be intended to ensure that the proposed public events corroborate and reinforce the celebration of European Maritime Day as well as offer maximum outreach to the general public.
